Launch Ad Venture Student Competition 2017 – 2018

The European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) and its European Institute for Commercial Communications Education (edcom) have launched a call for entries for its tenth annual advertising student competition, Ad Venture, in collaboration with Amnesty International.

Students in the field of commercial communications are challenged to create a communications campaign to inform the public about the issue of the current refugee crisis. The campaign should also inspire Europeans to feel that they personally have a role to play in actively welcoming refugees.

This year’s client, Amnesty International, is a non-governmental organisation focused on human rights with millions of members and supporters around the world. Active since 1961, Amnesty International works with the objective of conducting research and generate action to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights, and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated.

The campaign should address this issue with a focus on positive change and people power, helping to shift the narrative from crisis to action, appealing to people’s values – such as fairness, hospitality, generosity and tolerance. The final goal is to help Amnesty International inspire a movement of people to welcome refugees in their communities, by driving them to visit and join the iWelcome Community website.

The submitted entries will be assessed in three rounds by a broad base of judges, comprised of academics, advertising professionals and client representatives from across Europe. The three finalist teams will have the opportunity to present their campaign during the edcom Member’s Meeting in May 2018. The winning team will be rewarded with travel, accommodation and a ticket to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June 2018.

Students can register their teams until 15 December 2017 and should submit their campaigns by 16 March 2018. Please visit our website for more information.
