EACA Summer School wins GOLD for Best Association Training Initiative

We are delighted to announce that the EACA International Advertising Summer School has won Gold at the European Association Awards for Best Association Training Initiative during the annual award show in Brussels.

The European Association Awards recognises excellence and exceptional quality delivered by associations across Europe. The prestigious awards celebrate the work of individuals, teams and initiatives and highlight excellence in how associations operate and serve their members.

Originally designed to inspire Bachelor and Master students to make a significant step forward in their understanding of the commercial communications sector, the EACA International Advertising Summer School has grown to be a ‘must-go-to event’ for students and young professionals with a keen interest in the advertising industry.

During one week, participants are guided through the world of advertising and commercial communications by industry professionals whilst developing a campaign for a real client in international and multidisciplinary teams. At the end of the week, students pitch their campaign to an external jury who also provides them with valuable feedback and a certificate to recognise their participation.

The summer school was founded in 2010 and has hosted over 500 participants from across 20 European countries and beyond. As the demand grew for young professionals to receive training on the principles of advertising and commercial communications, the school started to focus on offering courses on topics of interest to agency professionals, ranging from how to pitch to a client, to trying out different brainstorming techniques and building a real Paid Social Media campaign. Students benefit greatly from the opportunity to experience what it is like to work with agency professionals.

Applications for the 2018 edition of the summer school are now open and will close on 15 May 2018. Please note, however, that registrations for the ‘Specialisation Day Workshops’ will be accepted on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis, so don’t wait too long to book your seat!

Registrations open: 9th edition of the successful EACA International Advertising Summer School

During the week of 2nd July 2017, EACA and edcom will welcome 70 advertising & commercial communications students and young professionals from across Europe to the EACA International Advertising Summer School in Vienna (Austria).

Participants will be following daily workshops by leading advertising professionals while working in international multidisciplinary teams. At the end of the week, they will present their campaigns to an external jury composed of client representatives and industry professionals.

New this year is a brand new programme with new topics, such as learning how to build the perfect Paid Social Media campaign (Dominika Dworak), discovering how to motivate yourself and be productive at work by mastering different brainstorming techniques and communications skills (Dalia Lourenço), and understanding different personality profiles to ensure a perfect cooperation and communications amongst different agency departments and clients (Elissa Telfer).

We will also be introducing a Specialisation Day: participants will be able to choose between two topics and follow an intensive and highly interactive workshop during one day with an expert in this area. A workshop on ‘Creative Storytelling’ will be given by San Francisco Miami Ad School lecturer John Delacruz, while the other workshop will be on ‘How to make content compelling for video in advertising’ by London based specialist Peter Rudge from Duckrabbit.

In addition to these new courses, participants will also be able to gain an understanding of client-agency relationships (Richard Robinson), discover the future of brands (Dietmar Dahmen), deliver the perfect pitch (Micky Denehy) and master their presentation skills (Siobhan Stanley).

EACA Summer School nominated for Best Training Initiative

A positive prospect to look forward to in 2018: the EACA International Advertising Summer School has been nominated for Best Training Initiative for the European Association Awards. Organised by the Global Conference Network, the European Association Awards celebrate associations who are striving ahead and setting standards for and on behalf of their members, therefore making a real impact.

The EACA International Advertising Summer School is an annual training initiative aimed at students and young professionals in the advertising industry.

Originally, the summer school was only open to Bachelor and Master students, designed to inspire them to make a significant step forward in their understanding of the commercial communications sector. As the demand grew for young professionals to receive similar training on the principles of commercial communications, the school opened an Advanced course for professionals with less than two years of experience in the industry.

The prestigious jury looked at criteria such as research and planning, target audience, implementation of the training initiative, results and feedback and plans for the next edition. The winner of the award for Best Training Initiative will be announced on 23 February 2018 at the European Association Awards Ceremony at the Steigenberger Wiltcher’s Hotel in Brussels.

Fingers crossed!
